Story of Suzi began when she got her home her in Lahore Zoo in 1988. On her arrival, people from all around Lahore and nearby places came to see this young beauty. Suzi was the only elephant at Lahore Zoo, and even with her all loneliness she managed to give children a memorable visit.
Every year on special occasions, she would become the center of attention. I remember going on a school trip to the zoo, especially to visit her. With time things change, I did not see her again but for generations she was with us, teaching the young ones about live elephant experience.
Just last year in August her 34th Birthday was celebrated at the Lahore Zoo. Hundreds of children and adults gathered to make her day even more special. But the special ones do not stay around for long. On Saturday May 13th, 2017 she was found dead in her cage. As soon as the word came out, clouds of sorrow and sadness took over all of social media. In no time the news became the headline, according to the Zoo Authorities a typical elephant separated from its herd can survive for 18-17 years and our brave friend survive longer.
Children, adults and media, have been sharing their memories from all over the Country.
