Pakistan Railways has come with a masterpiece for the adventure seekers and explorers with a Rail Safari from Golra to Attock Khurd Station. Chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjrani and Federal Railway Minister Azam Swati inaugurated the tourist train from Golra to Attock Khurd.
The Rail Safari from Golra to Attock Khurd is a great effort of Pakistan Railways to boost tourism in the Potohar region. It is definitely a great, novel and commendable idea of Pakistan Railways.
The safari train is being run by a nineteenth-century refurbished steam locomotive that gives it an enchanting and attractive look. The steam-powered train can accommodate a minimum of 1,500 passengers at a time.

Ticket Price for the Rail Safari
The tickets for the Rail Safari between Golra Station to Attock Khurd station are available at Rawalpindi Railway Station. Tourists can purchase their tickets from Rawalpindi station.

Operating Days and Visiting Places
The safari train will operate three days a week i.e. Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The train will ferry the adventurers to Golra, Hassanabdal, and Attock Khurd.

The train starts its journey at 9 am sharp and it reaches Attock Khurd station by 12:45 pm.
Golra Station
The first stop of Safari Train is Golra Station. Golra railway was established in 1881 and was upgraded to junction in 1912. Today, this station serves as a Railway Heritage Museum that depicts the history of the Pakistan Railway.
The safari train stops here for one hour. Tourist here get a chance to witness the beauty of the Golra station and the scenic view around the station.
Hassan Abdal Station
After passing through a tunnel near Sangjani Railway Station, the safari train next stop is Hassan Abdal railway station. Safari train stops here for 30 minutes. Hassan Abdal station is a very important stop for the Sikh pilgrims that fly away all around the world including India. Sikh pilgrims arrive here on the events of Besakhi and Sri Panja Sahib Janam Bhumi.
The new building of this railway station is very beautiful. PM Imran Khan inaugurated the newly built building of Hassan Abdal Railway Station on November 6, 2020. International standard facilities are installed here for the Sikh people.
Attock Khurd Station
The journey of rail safari from Golra station comes to an end at Attock Khurd station. During the journey, train passes through Golra, Taxila, Hassan Abdal and Attock city. The Attock Khurd railway station is located at 1003 feet above sea level and was established in 1884.
Attock Khurd station has scenic views around it. Sindh River passes nearby and there is Attock fort too. The Attock fort is the creation of Mughals in 1581 during the era of King Akbar. When you will arrive at Attock Khurd station, you will witness the history of the Pakistan Railway.
Down there, River Sindh flows. At its bank, you can enjoy boating too. There you can take pictures and make some beautiful memories with your loved ones.. There are some shops too that provide delicious eatables. The bank of Sindh River is a great picnic point for families too.
From Attock Khurd station, you can visit the old Attock bridge that is closed for traffic now. There is a tunnel too which is a little far from the Khurd station and can easily be visited by travellers.
Other Attractions in the Rail Safari
In the train safari, the tourists have the opportunity of live commentary that tells about every passing canal, tunnel and station. While you are on the journey, you can see the Ghazi Brotha Canal that comes from the Indus river. The route of the safari train involves the picturesque Marghallah Hills, Sangjani tunnel, and landscapes of the Potohar region.
Some other attractions for the kids are to be installed soon. According to the Divisional Suprindent of Pakistan Railway, he said that they are planning to start a live magic show for the kids on the train that captures their attention and it will make the journey wonderful. Moreover, a quiz program will take place that will include gifts for the kids with the right answer.
At the inauguration ceremony, Mr Azam Swati said,
“The core purpose of the train is to promote the culture, civilization and heritage of Pakistan.”
