Walled city of Lahore authority is the semi-government organization which was established by the Punjab government in 2012. The main purpose of this authority was to maintain these dignitary buildings and to take care of them, charge penalties to those who damage it.
This authority also holds the functions of the Walled city.
The walled city of Lahore authority started its work by maintaining the Shahi Guzargah, the passage among Delhi Gate to Lahore Fort is the passage which acts as a junction and links many other buildings with it. The walled city of Lahore authority maintained the Shahi Guzargah and along with it they also update the gas and electricity system of that area and also demolished the illicit shops. Now this passage is now as
Shahi Hammam which was designed for the travelers and for the citizens of the city as public hot bathrooms, during the Mughal era. It is single story building. Its maintenance is done by the Walled city of Lahore along with the Aga Khan Cultural Service Pakistan, Norwegian Embassy and Aga Khan Trust for Culture. The Hammam has been cleaned and restored and it is in use of the visitors and the citizens as well.
Haveli Baij Nath
Haveli of Baij Nath is situated near Delhi gate, which was owned by the the assistant commissioner of Lahore in British raj. In present this haveli is the residence for around 20 families, and this family restoration work has been done by the authority, the structure of the haveli has been maintained and the drainage system has been stabled.
Haveli Wajid Shah
This Haveli Wajid Shah was owned by the Prince from Uttar Pradesh who was the 5th King in the line. This Haveli was also improved by the authority of walled city of Lahore and improved by them.
Haveli of Prince Nau Nihal Singh
This haveli was built by Nau Nihal Singh son of the well known Maharaja Kharak Singh, The walls of the haveli is well decorated by glass and ornaments. It is indeed the worth-living place. During the British Raj this haveli was taken and converted to girls school. Now in the present era, this also comes under the supervision of the authority of walled city of Lahore.
The entire walled city of Lahore comes under the monitoring of the authority of Lahore. This authority is working honestly to preserve the historical heritage of the royals. So, that these royals remains can be witnessed by the upcoming generations as well.
