|The Ravi is one of the great rivers of Pakistan that flows by Lahore City. The Ravi river situated along the eastern bank is one of the five rivers of Pakistan. River Ravi is also known as ‘the River of Lahore’ because the whole city is built adjacent to this river. The famous town of Shahdara is on the western bank of Ravi River.|
Symbol of Past Mughals
This place now stands as a reminder for the past Mughals. The Baradari, a typical Mughal pavilion, constructed on the western bank of the Ravi, was a twelve door building that overlooks the historic city of Lahore. The natural beauty around this river was worth seeing and gave a great view during summertime. Those who loved nature especially appreciated the heavenly beauty of this attractive river.
Reality of Ravi River
Unfortunately, the Ravi River that we once knew has been lost forever to us. What we see today of the legendary River is the industrial waste that we created.
That’s because the untreated sewage and industrial wastes have vastly polluted it. The toxicants released into it from the factories nearby Shahdara road have contaminated the whole river.
